A car is not really necessary to get around as Bath has good public transport and taxi services.
The No.2 bus from the bus station (stop in front – beside the road) takes less than 10 minutes to the village and stops 200m from the lane (ask for Combe Down School). There are beautiful walks to the city centre – about 35 minutes (downhill) – map provided. Taxi from the city centre costs about £9. Bus route 20A goes from Combe Down to Bath University.
The regional airport is Bristol Airport, about 20 miles (30km) away. You can get a taxi (£45 approx) or take the new Airbus Service A4 to Bath Bus Station (£11) and then a taxi to Combe Down. I might be able to meet you at the airport – please ask.
From London Heathrow Airport and other London airports: There is good rail access from London and its airports to Bath Spa station.
Bath is easy to access from the Motorway network. Take the A46 south from Junction 18 of the M4 motorway. The route through Bath is a bit tricky, so use a GPS or ask for route description!
